All The Songs We Never Sang

This installation is an elegy on loss. It was originally created in honor of the passing of someone close. However after these past 2 years of COVID, it is for all of us who have lost someone near.

A theater of empty chairs circles a central candle with sentries of urns that are reflected in ephemeral skeletons of the same. The first 2 rows of chairs alternate between avatar animation sources and books with short poems on burnt pages. The second row contains disembodied hands that alternate between holding floating memories and pointing to a vortex in chair seats. Around the circumference of the last chairs, even smaller “soul” chairs appear and float up into a bright light. There is light and movement everywhere.
